AboutHidden in the Serra de São Mamede, A Sociedade Rural is a 30-hectare estate where the landscape sets the pace. Ancient olive, cork and oak trees surround three quietly designed houses, while gardens, spring water and open skies make up much of what happens here. There is little to distract you — and that is rather the point.
Created with a deep respect for the land, the retreat brings together thoughtful architecture, organic farming and a slower way of living. Swim in spring-fed waters, walk through the cork forests, gather around the kitchen, or simply let a day pass without much of a plan. A Sociedade Rural is a place for returning to the essentials — nature, good food, quiet and time.
