Shellegance

Shellegance is the whimsical world of South African artist Lucie de Moyencourt, where hand-painted ceramic shells become collectible works of art. Inspired by a lifelong love of beachcombing along South Africa’s coastline, each piece is individually shaped and painted by hand — a playful interpretation of nature through contemporary craft.

About

Born in Paris and raised in Cape Town, artist Lucie de Moyencourt grew up surrounded by creativity — with an antiques dealer for a father and a ballet teacher for a mother. After studying architecture and working as a set designer, she eventually followed her own path into painting, ceramics and illustration.

Her love of shells led to Shellegance, a collection of hand-cut and hand-painted ceramic shells inspired by a lifetime of collecting along the coast. Each one is a little different, bringing a playful touch of the sea into the home.
