THE HERDS
Global
A spectacular public art project bringing life-sized animal puppets into cities around the world. THE HERDS tells the story of animals fleeing climate disaster, turning the climate crisis into something people can see, feel and experience together.
❋ What they do
Artists, performers, scientists and communities come together to create a moving journey through public spaces. In 2025, THE HERDS travelled 20,000 km from the Congo Basin to the Arctic Circle, bringing hundreds of handmade animals through cities across Africa and Europe.
❋ Created by
The Walk Productions, the team behind Little Amal, led by David Lan, Tracey Seaward, Amir Nizar Zuabi and Sarah Loader.
❋ Why we love them
Because they make something as overwhelming as the climate crisis feel immediate, human and impossible to ignore — using art, imagination and a powerful connection to the natural world.
❋ How you can help
Support THE HERDS by following their journey, sharing their message, donating to help bring the project to more communities, or taking action for the climate in your own way.
A reminder that the natural world is not somewhere far away — it is all around us, and we are part of it.
