Vipassana Meditation
Worldwide
A meditation tradition with roots in ancient India, Vipassana is a practice of observing the mind and body as they are. Today, courses are offered around the world on a donation-based model, making the practice accessible to all. They offer an opportunity to step away from everyday life, practise in silence and develop a deeper awareness of yourself and the world around you.
❋ What they do
Vipassana, meaning “to see things as they really are”, is a technique of meditation centred on developing awareness and equanimity. Rather than focusing on a mantra, visualisation or trying to quiet the mind, practitioners learn to observe the changing sensations of the body and the activity of the mind without clinging to or resisting what arises.
❋ Where
Vipassana meditation centres and courses can be found across the world, from Asia and Europe to the Americas, Australia and Africa.
❋ Why we love them
There is a beautiful purity to the way Vipassana is offered. Teaching, accommodation and food are entirely donation-based, making the practice accessible to everyone.
For many, the experience becomes deeply transformative — an opportunity to turn inward, meet yourself without distraction and see life differently.
❋ What to expect
A traditional Vipassana course is a 10-day immersive experience. Participants follow a structured daily schedule with many hours of meditation, observe silence and live simply alongside other students.
A traditional practice of insight meditation, teaching us to observe bodily sensations, thoughts and emotions without reacting to them.
